Greetings from the Co-Curricular Life staff!

Since its founding, Sweet Briar students have been actively engaged in creating their lives and experiences.  This spirit is very much alive and well, both through traditions at the College and the initiatives and ideas that current students, faculty and staff bring to the community.  The result is a vibrant, eclectic range of options that reflects the diversity of interests and perspectives.   

Sweet Briar women take responsibility for their lives and have the opportunity to engage in the many intellectual, social, cultural, spiritual, and recreational activities on campus.

Students are encouraged to seek opportunities for membership and leadership in the wide range of student and campus organizations, in athletics, the arts, and through service learning opportunities on campus and in the community outside of the College.

If a student wants to create a new program or organization, there are resources available to support and encourage them.  Some of these activities quickly become “traditions”. 

The Co-Curricular Life staff works closely and collaboratively with the Dean of the College and faculty, as well as with other College offices, to facilitate an innovative—and fun—student life experience. 

There are a series of banners which line the entrance to the College:
Think.    Examine.    Search.    Explore.    Question.    Engage.    Imagine.   Succeed.
I believe these terms accurately capture the spirit and energy of Sweet Briar.
